What do you do when you feel like you can never do anything...

what-i-cannot-say-outloud:

What do you do when you feel like you can never do anything right?

Like you deserve your pain and suffering.

When your days are filled with emptiness, sadness, loneliness, and any time you try to do something about it you just become more depressed?

When you lose everything you once had? When you lose all your friends and have no clue how to make new ones? When you graciously accept your razor blade, bottle of pills or alcohol as your new best friend because it’s the only way you know how to gain back some control?

When you accept that crying is almost impossible so you find new outlets? You feel fat and disgusting when you’re not. Guilty to eat, talk, or be happy. When cutting, burning, starving, binging and purging, over exercising, and self medicating becomes your addiction, your way to release pain.

Maybe even like your life is pointless or not worth living.

When this is only a brief outline of some of the feelings you feel?

On top of all of this, you are not what society perceives as “normal,” because of your sexual orientation, gender identity, or biological sex. Neither of which you chose to be in the first place.

When it is implied that you are lesser than because of who you love, by your community, place of worship, friends or family.

When you are told numerous opinions that sting every time you hear them, no matter how many times you have been told them.

When your religion and civil rights are stripped away from you right before your eyes.

When you’re not accepted, by your family or friends. Or worse, what if you are instantly rejected, kicked out or your life is threatened, all because of a piece of your identity?

When you already felt worthless, but this just further makes you feel like even less of a human? When you’re reduced to nothing, and stripped of humanity.

When some people are able to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that things will get better, and are left with an intact heart and only minor cuts and bruises. When your able to be inspired and see that your life is in fact worth living. But what if you are not this lucky? What if this discrimination is just the icing on the cake for you, and you can no longer fight such an incredible amount of pain?

No one wants you to apologize for being affluent, white, straight, cisgender, Christian, able-bodied or a male.

The ultimate liberal goal is for that minority to be treated with the same respect, dignity, and human rights as the majority.

But until that can happen, please know that everyone who is here deserves to stay here.

Think before you bully, whether online, through verbal or physical violence, and any other form. But also think before you vote. A vote against marriage equality is really so much more than not wanting LGBTQ couples to marry, whether you think it is or not.

No matter what your beliefs are, don’t we all deserve to stay here?
